We're having a problem with Client Receiver v 11.5 & 11.6 on Mac OS X 10.8.2, our server is running Xenapp fundementals 6.0. We have several Macs on which it works just fine but have two where we can't launch applications. We can install the client, configure it no problem but when we launch an application it start off OK, you get an icon in the dock and the black rectangle connection box in the middle of the screen but after a few seconds this disappears to be replaced briefly by a Windows spinner then this goes as well and after a few seconds the dock icon goes as well and that's it. We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the client, doing a cleanup after uninstall, different versions, etc, etc. Logging on the receiver seems to be pretty much non-existent and the event logs on the server show nothing. None of the logs on the Mac show anything useful either.
I just downloaded the latest citrix client for mac from their website but when I go to launch an app it tries to open the app in VMware. If I right-click on the app and save target as, I get a launch.ica file which if I try to open in Citrix Dazzle it does not know how to open this file type.
We're totally stumped so any suggestions/ideas would be gratefully accepted. Edited by: Andrew Brazier on Jan 9, 2013 3:53 PM. IIS logs look clean to me but I'm no expert, attached snippets cover a 'failed' app launch. STOP PRESS: We have found the answer.
On the failing Macs, under System Preferences, Sharing, the Computer Name was blank. Added in a Computer Name, working!:) Now knowing what the problem was and having done some further research I'm a little irritated that there was no error message or warning apparent or logged anywhere to give us a clue as to what the problem was.
No popup, no log entry, nothing in the server event viewer. Some sort of logging feature built into the receiver would have been a great help with this problem. Edited by: Andrew Brazier on Jan 10, 2013 12:10 PM. Thank you for sharing your fix/find, Andrew. Looks like this has been a 'known' issue for a while as documented in the following Citrix KB article: 'Cannot connect to Store Using Mac Receiver 11.3' Obviously this issue occurs with up to version 11.7 of the Receiver for Mac. It would have been nice if the 'Symptoms' sections contained more info: Windows based PCs can launch published apps in the same environment just fine Some Mac Computers can connect and launch published apps successfully and some cannot (because, as we now know, the working Mac computers have a computer name designated and the non-working ones don't).

You can enumerate applications When you attempt to launch a published application though, the viewer comes up, then goes away. Rufus equivilant for mac. Alternately, you may see the 'Starting application' with spinning status / progress indicator that eventually goes away. In either case, the published application (and possibly desktop) does not launch.
No errors or other indicators as to why from the client itself. No errors at the Web Interface or XenApp servers.
Install the “HP Color LaserJet 2800 Series PS” driver on the Windows image manually • On the Windows VDA, choose Print server properties from Devices and Printers or run rundll32 PrintUI.dll,PrintUIEntry /s. • Click on the Drivers tab and then click Add. • In the Add Printer Driver Wizard window click Next, then Next and then select the required HP driver. Note: If the driver is not listed click Windows Update. If you don't see it after Windows Update is clicked, go to and search for HP LaserJet 2800.
Pick the 6.1.7600.16385 driver version. Extract the driver, click Have Disk in the screenshot above and point to the drivers extracted location. Important Note: If you extract the contents of the driver cab file using Windows Explorer the folder structure may not be retained and the driver installation may encounter an error. To avoid this use a more robust extraction tool such as WinRar or 7zip. • Click Next, then Finish. • The printer driver should then be listed in the Installed printer drivers.
