It occurs for all four of my gmail accounts and does not appear to correspond to the usage of any particular application. I recently changed passwords for three of my accounts but the popup still appears for all four of them. I stopped entering the password after the popup and it seems to have no affect. I still get my mail via Apple mail, and chat works regardless. It occurs on two Macs (one Air one Mini) each running Yosemite 10.10.3.
